Africa 2017...

Suffolk Scouts are leading a multi county expedition with 114 Explorers, Network Scouts and leaders to South Africa and Lesotho, in July and August 2017.

The expedition will also incorporate a 10 day Explorer Belt Expedition, in which 24 of the participants will experience the culture of these two wonderful countries, whilst travelling independently and completing projects as they go.

The main expedition are working with several community charities, including The Lonely Road Foundation in Limpopo, Soweto Kliptown Youth (SKY) and The Little Rose Centre in Soweto, Johannesburg, Thembihle Boys Shelter in Newcastle KZN and Sentabale on Lesotho.

More information about our partner charity organisations can be found on the links below.
   The Lonely Road Foundation,
   The Little Rose Centre,
   Thembalihle Shelter,
   Scouts South Africa,

Our participants, who come from Suffolk, Wlitshire, Hertfordshire and Newcastle Under Lyme, will be working with these charities and the communities that they serve in developing infrastructure and community dwellings, as well as sharing cultural exchange with Scouts and communities in South Africa and Lesotho.

Training for the expedition is well underway and the contingent is preparing well for their adventure.

If you have any questions about the expedition or other international opportunities, please contact Jane Dickinson (Expedition leader) or Karen Pettitt (ACCI).
