It is great to have lighter nights but a bit disturbing to note how fast time is moving on. I was saddened to hear that Julie Baker, a Leader with Lakenheath, had 'gone home'. Julie was a true inspiration to all who knew her.

As you may know, John Mabb’s final issue as County News editor is the March/April 2016 edition. John has been a great supporter of Suffolk Scouts and was certainly one of the best County Commissioners I had come across in my nomadic Scouting life. As I have said before, we all leave footprints and John has certainly left his on the County. I’m sure we shall still see John from time to time. Thank you John, for carrying on as editor for as long as you have since moving to Hampshire.

COMPASS has arrived! As I write, it all seems to be working well and any queries are answered promptly by HQ. Hopefully it will start to make life a lot easier.

Lots of exciting things will be happening with the Cub Scouts this year as they reach 100 and the Suffolk Beaver Scouts as they reach 30 years. I am really looking forward to visiting your camps and activities. Please remember to let Carl Gloess, our new County News editor, have all your news (please note the new e-mail for articles: This email address is being protected from spambots. The African Adventure is gaining speed now. The first camp was at the end of January and from what I saw, young and not so young were having a good time. Yet another adventure of a lifetime for Suffolk Scouts.

MOOT is only 18 months away so Scout and Explorer Scout Leaders put the August Bank Holiday 2017 in your diaries now - you really don’t want to miss it.

Heather Bridges has stood down as ACC Explorer Scouts and John Broad has stood down as DC for Stowmarket. Both John and Heather championed our youth members, for which I am truly grateful. Ollie Smith has been appointed Youth Commissioner and has already engaged with the District Commissioners; and lastly our very own Niall Pettitt has been appointed by HQ as Deputy International Commissioner(Programme Support). Well done Niall!

I hope you all have a happy and restful Easter.

Jenny Mullan
County Commissioner
