RingtailIt may have got chillier but the weather has not stopped the 6-11 year olds of Suffolk exploring and continuing to carry out great Scouting.

The Smartie Challenge has finished on a very high note with Debenham Beavers raising £50 for the local hospice HOPS, which came and ran a disability evening and where the cheque was presented to them at the end of the evening. And to top that I was invited to go along to the TOPCATS grand opening of their sensory room. This fantastic resource was completed with their money raised by the Lowestoft Beavers. I was unfortunately unable to attend the event but I asked Gemma, acting ADC Lowestoft to go on my behalf. Gemma felt blessed knowing that her colonies have helped in such a tremendous way and helping their local people.

Pig in Camp Blanket got all festive and joined in the fun with the Lowestoft Beavers for their Christingle Service, which followed all the magic and laughter at Oulton Broad. It was great that Jane (CC) and Peter (DCC) joined us to celebrate.

It was also a fantastic sight to see so many smart Beavers, Cubs, Scouts and Explorers singing their hearts out at the Orwell District Carol Service. It was “Good News” to see a fantastic colourful Nativity by the Beavers and I was proud to award a couple of Bronze awards to the Beavers and Karen (ADC Beavers Orwell) with her 25 year service award. Congratulations to those individuals.

Due to the unfortunate weather conditions I was unable to attend the joint Orwell and Wolsey District Carol Campfire as it was cancelled but I’m sure it was a tad warmer snuggled up indoors.

So as the sun sets on 2017 and begins to rise in 2018 I’m looking forward to working with the Beavers and Cubs of Suffolk. I already have my next year’s diary getting full of dates for the new year. Starting off with the Spa Pavilion, Felixstowe to see Aladdin. OH YES I AM!!.  I have also got the Deben Cub Camp at Bradfield and the festive fun continues with Stowmarket’s Cub camp at Athlington in July.

Personally, I cant wait to help The Ipswich Gang Show celebrate their 80th birthday in April and too top the year off I’m getting married in July so the future months look bright.

Thank you to everyone for doing what you do for the young people of Suffolk and may I wish you a prosperous and healthy 2018.

Yours in Scouting
