Spring has certainly sprung and after a spot of “spring cleaning” Pig in Camp Blanket has journeyed up the A14 to Hallowtree and is situated at the top building. He is keeping an eye out as you arrive in the car park. Please say ‘Hello’ when you pass him. If you would like him to attend your event please could you let me know.

The Easter holiday arrived and went in a flash. I hope you all had a “cracking” time whilst enjoying the break.RR 07 18

The Ipswich Gang Show celebrated in style as it was their 80th year, I felt proud to be a member of the cast. Well done to everyone on stage, off stage and all around for their help in making it such a success. It was great to see many fellow Scouters enjoying the experience including Jenny Mullan, Ex CC and the DCs from Deben, Orwell and Wolsey at the show. Steve Leach (Wolsey) said “That it was very good and always exceeds his expectations, It’s great to see so many people on stage enjoying it!”. I was also surprised to see Peter and Janet Jarvis who travelled from Lowestoft who thought it was just fantastic and commented that  “I make an excellent 80 year old!”

In my role as ACC Youth Programme 6-11 years, I felt honoured to watch a fab cast of the Mini Gang who were excellent performers in The Golden Woggle, everyone was superb but special mention must go to Eddie Alway for his fantastic continuous waving as Chris of a Wave. I had to go upstairs and congratulate them all.

Well done to Gemma and the folks in the far eastern part of Suffolk for arranging a Wild time at Africa Alive in order to complete the County Challenge as a whole district and came in second.  A big congratulations to one and all and a special mention goes to Emma of 1st Carlton Colville for her efforts in being creative with the scrapbook. First place for Beavers goes to 1st Long Melford, their Beaver toy travelled far and wide. Special mention must go to the beaver who took a photo of a squirrel ( just been knocked over unfortunately) still warm and holding its nut. A big congratulations to you and I will be in touch about getting your prize to you.

And now for the Cubs, second place goes to 1st Honington Cub pack for their entry, well done one and all, drum roll please………..the winner goes to Sam from 6th Bury St Edmunds Cub Pack for his lone entry. A fantastic entry and I can see by his face he really enjoyed himself.

A big well done to the four entries, it was a shame that there wasn’t more.

With all this amazing sunshine, It was nice to cool off and think of Christmas  yes CHRISTMAS with the Stowmarket Cubs at Athlington. Christmas Eve started the weekend off, Christmas Day arrived and a full dinner was served to visiting older Beavers and the day ended with a campfire. Even the big man himself popped by in the evening. The weekend concluded a much slower paced Boxing Day. A huge Congratulations to Annita , Colin and the team for all their efforts over the weekend. Sunday closed on a sad note with Annita stepping down as ADC for Stowmarket emotions were high and I am sure the District would join me in thanking Annita for all she has done for the young people of Stowmarket. I would like to wish Dan all the best as he picks up where Annita left off.  It was also Barbara’s last District camp as DC, my thanks and best wishes for all you do in the future.

So as the 6 week hols are approaching over the brow, may I wish everyone a very happy Summer and  may I look  forward to hearing all your news in September.

Keep in touch,
