On a bright sunny morning in late September, 65 beaver scouts from 9 colonies in the Bury St.Edmunds district gathered at Bradfield Park. They spent the morning making their own box car using boxes, paper plates, copious parcel tape, paint and other junk materials. Their imagination abounded as numerous ingenious designs for box cars emerged.

After lunch they paraded their box cars around the track before the rally races began. Each colony raced around the track “wearing” their box cars. The winners were declared the colony champions.

The final race was between the champions and the runners up from all 9 colonies to find the overall box car champion for the district. The overall district winner at the box car rally was Ashley Brinkley from 1st Horringer. The runner up was Sam Goddard from 10th Bury.

We finished the day with a camp fire singsong. Thanks to all leaders and adults who helped to make the day so successful.
