Jenny's Journal - Dec-12
Well it has been a busy few weeks. Waveney Valley had its Development day on 17th November. It was a super day with all Groups represented. Groups were encouraged to think about their plan for the future. That way the District knows where it is going. District Development days are so important as we work towards our Vision for 2018.
This past weekend I attended the National Conference where we looked to Scouting's Vision for 2018. I had a super time and you can read all about the Conference on the web site.
I attended the first night performance of Stowmarket's Gang Show "Scouting's Got Talent" and Stowmarket certainly HAS got talent. I loved the energy and enthusiasm; it was such a happy show. Well done to everyone.
The Felixstowe Carol Service with the Salvation Army was, as always, a super event. I was almost blown over by the singing from the Beaver Scouts. Jingle Bells almost blew the roof off! I was able to present the Award for Merit to Martin Agar, David Gingell and Carol Scurrel for Outstanding Service to Scouting.
On to 32nd Ipswich to present Albert Newlands with his 70, yes 70 year award. Albert told stories of pulling the trek cart to camp and of the many antics he got up to as a young man, fascinating tales. It was a real privilege to have met him.
Off to Pakefield on Saturday to their Christmas bazaar where I presented Jean Eglington and Robert Harbord with the Award for Merit for Outstanding Service to Scouting.
In between times we have been painting and decorating the bedroom, what a glutton for punishment! Still, nearly done now.
A few more Carol services to go before we can put our feet up.
Don't you just love this time of year...........I do.
