I have just had the most fantastic weekend!  On Saturday morning I visited Orwell Scouts at their District camp at Hallowtree.  The ADC Scouts along with the Orwell Scout Leaders were running a super programme.  They must have had an excellent Friday evening programme, as I passed two scouts having a nap under a tree as I left......

On to Athlelington Hall where Stowmarket District Cubs were having their annual camp.  The theme this year was Christmas.  I just missed the arrival of Father Christmas with his elves on the tractor, and the torrential rain (not Snow) meant I missed the one hundred+plus autograph-signing by Santa. Christmas dinner was a magnificent feast cooked by Graham, Lynne and Dave, the full works followed by Christmas pudding for 200 people. Ross Kelly led the campfire singsong round the flag pole and then into the Marquee for Christmas carols.  The Christmas trees and lights were fabulous and at one point I, along with several leaders, could imagine it really was Christmas! The roof was raised with all the singing and dancing.  The hard work and enthusiasm from the Leaders, especially ADC Cubs Anita Scruby was so evident throughout the time I was there.  I felt very humble

Both events were just the best.  What memories were made for the youngsters and what fantastic leaders we have in Suffolk

Today I was at Pleasurewood Hills in Lowestoft to present Bronze, Silver,Gold and Platinum awards respectively to Beavers, Cubs, Scouts, and Explorer Scouts.  James Nunn ,our ACC Awards had done us proud as did Maxine, the public relations co-ordinator from Pleasurewood Hills. Photos will be posted soon.  After the presentations we all made the most of the rides!  I don't know who enjoyed the event the more. I know I certainly had a good time.

The Waveney Valley and Bury St Edmunds District AGMs went very well with lots of Leaders supporting their District teams.

I attended the 10th Ipswich AGM on Friday, where June Cullingford the GSL is doing a tremendous job.

If you are reading this and are not part of Scouting you really don't know what you are missing. If you want to join in the fun just drop me an e-mail.
