It has been another busy couple of weeks as it has been for all of us at this time of year. Last Saturday I was invited to 1st Kesgrave's AGM, a Group with 250 members. There was a different approach with the section reports. It consisted of slide presentations from the Leaders which showed the parents, in full colour, what their youngsters had achieved. The video of the first Beaver Scout Camp was fabulous. Unfortunately I had to leave early as I'd had a family SOS. It was a shame that I missed the BBQ. It smelt yummy.

On Sunday I was at Mildenhall with the County Core Team for the selection of the Leaders for the Jamboree. Leigh Foster had worked hard to put the programme together and after putting the Leaders though various bases plus an interview, we were all unanimous on the outcome. Jane Dickinson is the Contingent leader, Chris Mapey is Deputy, James Pitcher and Karen Pettitt as assistants. Matt Meyrick, Debbie Hodges, Paul Goffin and Lisa Magowan were selected to support the Suffolk Contingent.
Exciting times lie ahead.

I popped to Ramsholt yesterday afternoon to visit the Wet Weekend camp. Not quite so many campers this year but they certainly chose the right weekend, weather wise, although at times I think it may have been too hot! I arrived just after supper or in some cases during. It was good to chat with the Leaders and to watch the young Scouts, Guides and Explorer Scouts talking and playing, not a Game boy or laptop in sight. This is such a fabulous opportunity to give young people a chance to canoe and kayak.

I am delighted to report that Martin Agar has accepted the role of District Commissioner for Orwell and Denise Law has accepted the District Commissioner post for Deben.

Finally, another reminder - don't forget about the Moot. If you haven't already booked your place, why not do it now? It should be an exciting time for everyone. Remember that it only comes round every four years.

Happy Scouting
Jenny
