Going the Whole Hog

Suffolk Scouts are supporting BBC Radio Suffolk’s year long “Going the Whole Hog” campaign to make Suffolk the first hedgehog-friendly county.

A third of our hedgehogs have been lost in the last 10 years

Hedgehogs are in sharp decline as it’s believed around 36 million of them roamed the land in the 1950s, but that there are less than one million in the country today. Since 2000 hedgehogs in Britain have been declining at the same rate as tigers worldwide. We have much to do to help hedgehogs. The situation can’t be improved overnight but it is really worth fighting for, so that future generations to still have the ‘hog as a regular visitor to their gardens.

So over the next 12 months, let’s go the whole hog and make all of Suffolk hedgehog friendly.

You can link the activities you do to numbers of badges throughout each Section’s programme and Radio Suffolk will also award certificates and stickers if you let them know what you have been doing.
