Hello Suffolk Scouters!

We have all been on been on probably one of the most challenging journeys over the past eighteen months with the global pandemic. I wanted to say that the work you have all done to maintain Scouting through zoom, remote learning and safe socially distanced Scouting has been amazing. We have all learned so much and in doing so ensured that the programmes we laid on for young people in their formative years has benefited them both mentally and physically. Don’t underestimate the impact you have had and what a fantastic difference you are making for young people in Scouting.

The pandemic hasn’t been kind to many people’s health for various reasons and my family have been impacted too and my time and emotional commitment to them has significantly increased. For those reasons I have taken the decision to step down as County Commissioner.

The process to find your next County Commissioner has already started! I’m working closely with Graham, our Regional Commissioner, and our County team, to ensure that there is effective coverage and support during the next couple of months. Our early efforts to find an interim County Commissioner have also begun.

I would like to thank all the young people and adult volunteers that I have met over my time in the role, for your warm welcomes and for such enthusiasm and positivity. The things you have done for young people have been truly inspiring, you are amazing volunteers.

Keep safe and well

Kind regards

Mark
