Cub Scouts - 105th Anniversary

A group of people posing for a photo

Description automatically generatedIn the summer term a competition was launched for cubs in Suffolk. The challenge was to design a badge to celebrate the 105th Anniversary of Cub Scouts.

On Monday 13th September, I visited the 36th Ipswich Cub Pack to present a badge of the winning design to its creator, Pippa. The judges loved her drawing of a wolf cub, who looked very happy - as all cub scouts are when they are with their pack.

Ollie Smith – Deputy County Commissioner (Programme)

Some of you will know that Ollie will be standing down from his Suffolk role as Deputy Country Commissioner – Programme at the end of December.

Ollie has held a number of roles in Suffolk most notably firstly as its first County Youth Commissioner, a county trustee; with key international experiences on the last World Scout Jamboree and the South Africa Partnership expedition; and more recently as a Deputy County Commissioner (Programme).Ollie has made a tremendous impact on Suffolk Scouts throughout his time with us.

Ollie is moving up to Liverpool to attend Liverpool John Moore’s University to begin a new chapter in his life: training to become a nurse. We wish Ollie all the best in his new venture and hope he will stay in touch. Suffolk’s loss is Merseyside’s gain. I am sure he will soon be talent spotted for a Scouting role in his new home.

I’d like to use this opportunity to thank Ollie on behalf of you all for everything he has done for the County and to say it’s been a pleasure working with you!

I would also like to announce that Jo Cracknell has kindly agreed to take on the role of Acting Lead for Programme until such time as Ollie’s successor is appointed.

Keith Barber

Acting County Commissioner
