December 2010
ExpiredMy goodness, is it the end of another year? I know you will all have been just as busy so I won’t take up a lot of time. I have had a lot of fun attending Carol Services and visiting Groups this month. I would just like to say a Big Thank you to you all for your hard work and dedication in 2010 and to wish you and your families a very Merry Christmas and lots of happy Scouting in 2011.

ExpiredI do hope you enjoyed your summer break. It must seem a long time ago. We are well and truly into the Autumn term and the nights are drawing in,. although it is good to see that some of you are still camping.
July 2010
ExpiredTo say “time passes quickly when you’re having fun” is an understatement. At the beginning of May I was fortunate to have a ride in Jamroll (Lord Baden-Powell’s Rolls Royce). Squashed in the back seat with David Walsh and Andrew Cracknell, we journeyed from Christchurch Park to Felixstowe in a parade of classic vehicles. The rain rather spoiled the day for those attending. On arrival at Felixstowe we found that Orwell District had set up a stall selling hot drinks and yummy cakes as part of a Development Day for the District. Their Jamboree contingent were also present and I was pleased to chat to them.
My challenge this year is based on the Law and Promise – Helping Other People. The idea is to do something for the community in which you do your Scouting. It could be planting some flowers, visiting old people’s homes, looking after gardens, fundraising for a local cause. I am sure you will have lots of other ideas. You might like to think about Shelterbox which provides much needed equipment for disaster areas such as Haiti.
As another example, Radio Suffolk is running its “Don’t be a Tosser” campaign and if you give Mark Murphy enough notice he will, if he can, come and help you with your litter pick. Which brings me to the second part of the challenge and that is to get your event publicised. Contact Brian Roe our Media Manger at
Everyone taking part in the Challenge will receive a special woggle.
Let’s make Scouting high profile in Suffolk!
Have Fun! Do Good! Be Seen!
