It has been a busy week leading up to Christmas.  I popped into the Christmas tree festival in St Peter’s Church in Sudbury to look at the trees and was very impressed with the tree decorated by 3rd Sudbury.  Their scarves hung proudly from the tree.

Stowmarket District Carol service on the 8th was superb.  The church was full of Christmas trees all lit up.  I loved the Stowmarket version of the twelve days of Christmas.  Then it was on to join 1st Westerfield at their Carol service where I presented Joan Gibson with the Chief Scout’s commendation.  The youngsters, with the help of the leaders, had organised the service, which was lovely.  The mince pies were good as well.

1st Lavenham’s Christmas party on Friday was just fantastic, a full Christmas dinner.  This was much appreciated, as it was the first proper meal I’d had all week!  The Magician was great, I’ll never know how he got the card I had signed into his wallet.  The Conga and Gangnam Style were the highlights of the evening.

On Saturday I joined the 18th Ipswich Scouts at Felixstowe where they were having their Christmas indoor camp.  I presented Daniel Josselyn with the Chief Scout’s Commendation.  I then made a brief visit to the Sudbury District Beaver Scout Sleepover at Clare where Ann Robinson was weaving her magic.

On Sunday morning, I set off to the 11th Ipswich for the Explorer Belt presentation.  Their expedition took place in Poland in July.  Well, I was blown away!  The presentations by the Explorers and Network were very professional, very informative and very funny.  Well done to everyone, especially Niall Pettitt.

Last but not least on to 14th Lowestoft for their Carol Service led by our County Chaplain Roger Keys, who in his quiet laid back way delivered a very powerful message.  Well done to the Scouts and Cubs who gave the readings.  I presented Awards for Merit to Maurice Garrod and Peter Aldous for outstanding service to Scouting.

Thank you so much to everyone.  I have had a fantastic month travelling around the county joining in your Christmas festivities.

All that is left now is for me to wish you and your families a very Happy Christmas and to thank you for everything you do for Scouting in Suffolk.
