You may be wondering why we're doing all this work on the Suffolk website? Well.. there is a good reason..!
Back in Spring 2013 we decided to move all bookings for training courses to an online system, and we've been hard at work building it. The good news, is that it's finally here! The bad news, it's a fairly long technical process to get it all setup. Those that are interested can read the current progress at the end.
In order to bring you these new fancy systems to make our lives easier, we've had to make the call to change the way we manage our users. Currently, you register to use the website through a form that makes an account within the site itself. We're now moving everyone to a single centralised user system that we can use across all of our new systems. (County Directory, Training Manager, website etc.)
It means a lot of work, but there will be a few changes:
- No-one, apart from members of scouting in Suffolk will be allowed an account i.e. Leaders or Youth members.
- Accounts can be applied for by the user themselves, or someone on their behalf.
- All accounts now manually authorised and checked against Gilwell DB - membership numbers required
- Usernames are now decided by the new system.
- Passwords will be generated by the system but can be changed after the first log-in in your account.
All existing users have had their password's reset and usernames changed. You should have received an email sent by Suffolk Scouts Web Admin at around 23:00 on the 8th October informing you of your new UserID & password details.
Some users have had their accounts deleted; if you haven't logged in since the start of 2011, I'm afraid that includes you. Don't worry, you just need to re-apply.
County Directory: All existing users will need to log-in and change their password (as per instructions in the above e-mail) to re-enable access to the County Directory.

System Status
- User login has been disabled until the end of Monday 7th October 2013.
- County Directory log-in will only work after you have changed your password.
- Group Finder is down due to an update.
Timeline
For those that are interested...
- Remove old user accounts
- Standardise usernames and generate new passwords
- Update the website to Joomla! v3
- Tie Joomla into the LDAP database
- Import users into LDAP
