It is with huge sadness that I tell you that Graham Parker passed away last night, Saturday 11th May.
Graham was a long-standing (over 50 years of service) member of the Scout Association, and he will be much missed. He was instrumental in the success of the 24th Ipswich Scout Group and Wolsey District, not forgetting his hard work at Hallowtree.
Max Raffe (DC Orwell) and an old friend of Graham’s was able to present him with his very well-deserved Silver Wolf award on Friday.
Details concerning Graham’s funeral etc. will emerge in due course.
If Leaders are running expeditions for their members to meet the DofE requirements, please make sure that the County DofE Co-Ordinator (Ralph Hansby-Patterson) is informed it is taking place with the required details at least 6 weeks prior to the event!. This doesn't matter if it is a practice or a full test, he must be informed so it can be properly recorded and logged.
The sort of information needed is similar to the Nights Away requirements but also includes more details of personnel, routes to be taken, campsites etc. as per the DofE updated processes.
He can be contacted via this e-mail link -
You'll find information here on how to set up expeditions on the eDofE website.

Some new resources regarding neurodiversity have been added to the Inclusion & Diversity pages on the following link - Inclusion & Diversity - that may help with the greater understanding of and dealing with young people with an autism diagnosis.
Some of these are particularly suited to young people - look out for the narwhals - and others for adults to learn about the condition. The blogs have had very positive feedback to the articles from affected people.
Remember to contact the ACC (Inclusion) for any information you feel you may need help with (see link).
